What Is Vastu Shastra?

Vastu Shastra is an ancient Indian science of architecture and design, which emphasizes the principles of spatial arrangement, orientation, and proportion in the construction of buildings. The word “vastu” means “dwelling” or “house” in Sanskrit, while “shastra” refers to a set of rules or principles.

According to Vastu Shastra, the design and layout of a building should be in harmony with the natural environment and the cosmic energies that flow through it. It is believed that by following the principles of Vastu Shastra, one can create a living or working space that is conducive to health, prosperity, and happiness.

Some of the key principles of Vastu Shastra include the orientation of the building with respect to the cardinal directions, the placement of rooms and spaces in the building, the use of colors and materials, and the positioning of furniture and objects within the space. Vastu Shastra also incorporates the principles of astrology and numerology to help determine the most auspicious time and location for construction or renovation projects.
